8/11/13 Sharing His Word with Sabbath Sunday
Genesis 2:2-3 (NASB)
2 By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
This scripture is one the most easily recalled passages by Christians. It is also the first reference of a sanctified or holy day in the Bible. ‘God completed His work which He had done and He rested on the seventh day.’
Points for Personal Reflection
- If the Lord can accomplish all of that in six days and He resides in us, think about this for a second; once we aligned with His Will, what could we accomplish in six days with God’s unlimited power living in us? What part of His blessing are we missing out, putting off, or ignoring?
- If the Lord can do all of that in six days and spare to take a day of rest, it proves that we should also.
To rest means:
- To cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh, and recover.
- The 3- R’s of rest; Relax, Refresh, Recover
Six days of work and one of rest, this is what God intended for you. No, He will not think you are lazy or unmotivated! He knows what you diligent, overachievers are sacrificing to dedicate a whole day to the 3- R’s. He commands this because He wants us to be in balance and not be overworked and stressed. His caring commands are always to our benefit.
Surrender your daily schedule to God; ask Him in Jesus name, to show you favor producing tasks that are aligned with His Will that can be done today. Additionally, ask that He show you the unnecessary black hole, time wasting tasks, which are not producing any favor in your life.
Have a wonderful day and may God bless you always. Amen!
