James 1:2-3 – Consider It All Joy

image

Do you ‘consider it all joy’ when you encounter various trials?

How many Christians do you know that do? ……..

Do you know anyone who does? ……..

Every single time? ……..

No, me neither.

We try to be joyful in everything we do –  we really, really try. We make up our minds to be happy. We make countless plans to guide us into all happiness. The truth is, life can get super rough and our limited-human-supply of joy just runs thin. Joy should be a Christians norm – a functioning optimum – but it’s hard to be joyful in the midst of a mess. It’s hard to rejoice when our chaotic lives are running wild and free through the seemingly endless streets of crazy town.

How can a Christian find joy?

They pause.

Put both hands up.

Wave the white flag of surrender.

And give it all to Jesus.

That’s total surrender sweet souls. That’s where we realize that we can’t be joyful in every circumstance without clinging to the hope that only Jesus provides.

That’s where Jesus meets us.

That’s where Jesus steps forth to carry our load. He fills our hearts with His strength, grace, mercy, and unending joy. Jesus is where we find joy in every kind of trial.

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Music that speaks – Chris Tomlin – White Flag

When we surrender to Jesus, we give Him control and He gives us peace. We can enjoy every day when our joy comes from Jesus!

God bless you!

I am a daughter of God, a servant of the Lord, a wife to a patient husband, and a mama of two forgiving boys. God has placed these three men in my life needfully so. I thank Him for them everyday. And like so many of the Lord’s children, I am a work-of-glory-in-progress. I am on a journey to reclaim and renew my life in Christ. It took me 34 years to learn that when nothing else works, God does!

    Hi Jennifer!
It is so hard to be joyful in the midst of trials. I can’t testify to that. I really needed to be reminded of this. I like what you said about how to recieve joy:

That’s where we realize that we can’t be joyful in every circumstance without clinging to the hope that only Jesus provides.

So true….How can we begin to be joyful when we don’t understand and we don’t hold on to the TRUTH that Jesus provides???!!!! He really does provide. He really saves us. He is the one who fights for us. He is the one who gets us out of the troubles we face!! He is our source of joy! Thank you for a much needed reminder Jennifer!! 😄
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day!
