May we render all glory, honor, and praise to the Lord God Almighty!

John 3:16

For God So Loved the World

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Acts 4:10-12

“let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Philippians 2:4-11

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Amid the hustle and bustle, gifts and gatherings, I encourage you to make time to reflect on the glory and honor of the REAL reason for the season.

The birth of Jesus Christ – Son of God – Savior of the World.

Let’s give Him all the glory!

How are you keeping Christ the center of your Christmas? Share in the comments below.

God bless you!

For Unto Us A Child Is Born

Isaiah 9:6-7 (NKJV)

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”

Praying you adore Him more and more every day.

God bless you today and always!

Merry Christmas!

A True North Perspective – Concentrated Prayer

“I have now concentrated all my prayers into one, and that one prayer is this, that I may die to self, and live wholly to Him.” – Charles Haddon Spurgeon

That IS concentrated prayer.

Oh, the intentions of a heart that earnestly utters these sincere words to God! No hint of fear or worry. Full surrender. Everything on the altar.

Why don’t we always pray like this?!

Sometimes we’re consumed by the things of this world. Sometimes we’re devoured by daily life. Sometimes we just feel so defeated. We talk to God all day about what’s going wrong in our personal world – with our family, our friends, our marriage, our kids, our job, or lack of any or all of these – and how we think things could improve. By the end of this “decadelong” day, we crawl into bed exhausted, full of turmoil and unrest. But we’re not done yet, nothing has been resolved emotionally. We have this deep inner need to bend God’s ear for a lengthy play by play – the unedited, extended cut laundry list of daily problems – drawing out the detailed circumstances and desired outcome of each one for Him again!

This is self-absorption at its best!

Oh, if we could only shift our focus! If we could only come to our senses and realize – WHO HE IS! [Um, like, HELLO! This is God, the Creator of the universe!] He is already there, He already knows! He is always innumerable steps ahead of us. He’s worked out every problem. He knows every solution! He for sure knows everything long before we do but we act like the opposite is true. We hash out all the details again and again, as if He needs to know for maybe…just one. more. time!

He who created everything by His Word. He who called the world into existence. He who is the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. He who sees all, He who knows all!

We’re talking about God, I mean, really?! What problem could we solve by pondering and what-if’n everything that God doesn’t already have a solution for? What detail could our dim eye or limited mind notice that could escape Him? What could we possibly add to His omniscience or omnipotence? [Yeah, we will wait, like forever, and…crickets! We add exactly nada, zip, zilch.]

We know this stuff, right?

You’d think we wouldn’t be anxious or fretful about anything, right?

Sometimes, the things we face seem hard and we have a momentary lapse of mind. We forget and worry. We become self-focused instead of God-focused but then (hopefully in a white-hot-second) we come to our senses and remember Who He Is

  • He is GOD of the universe!
  • Creator, Sustainer!
  • Almighty God!

Phillippians 4 holds an affirming reminder:

Philippians 4:6-7 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

So, while the Bible is clear that it is good to make our requests known to God, things go wrong when we are fretful or anxious about those requests and concerns or if we ask with a wrong motive. And if we’re worrying, then we completely miss the act of thanksgiving. And, even more wrong than that, we essentially block the peace that God provides to guard our heart and mind through Christ Jesus because we are not being obedient to His Word. We step outside of His Will and feed the worry instead of the peace.

When we are pressed thin on all sides, feeling weary and war-torn by the cares of this world. When the day to day struggles of this life are too heavy to bear. When we’re desperate and anxious to cry out to God for a cure to a thousand worries. That’s when self-focused, long-winded, overly dramatic, empty ramblings pour forth in our prayers. The whirlwind of anxiety and worry spin out of control. The damage they create leaves our hearts tattered, our knuckles white, and our minds frazzled.

Not all prayers need to be short and sweet, just like not all long, dramatic prayers are self-focused or empty ramblings – see Psalm 119 for a perfect example of a really long God-focused prayer.

But when we shift our focus off ourselves and onto God, we humbly pray that we die to self and live wholly for HIM! The mere thought of our justification and sanctification is enough to turn our worry-prone thoughts to the One who gives us peace. When we are rightly focused on Him, oh, how our cares fade! Oh, how the peace invades! How can we fret over anything when we know who holds us securely in the palm of His hand? Oh, how that shifts our perspective – our entire being – to True North – to God!

So, are you going to feed the worry or the peace?

Choose peace!

Let’s pray: Oh, LORD, may Your bride be completely surrendered to You – our True North. May Your Will be our will. May the cares and worries of this world pale in comparison to Your Great Glory. Oh, LORD, we believe, help our unbelief! Help us feed the peace and stand firm in our faith! Help us always remember Who You are! Help us consciously focus our thoughts and hearts on You – the rightful King and Lord over all – and make us more like You. Help us be obedient to Your Will. Renew and transform our hearts and minds through the saturation of Your Word. Illuminate our lives with Your presence and remove anything from us that does not bring You glory or does not further Your Kingdom. As we seek You out, as we draw closer to You, as our prayers are rightly concentrated and focused upon You, let us not be overwhelmed and anxious but our hearts and minds be guarded and filled with Your peace in Christ Jesus that surpasses all understanding. May we may cry out in humble sincerity to die to self and live wholly for You. Take all that we are Lord – it is Yours. In the Precious Name of Jesus Christ, we pray. AMEN.

Sweet Soul, may you abide in His peace as you live a life concentrated on Him, ever focused on Who He is!

God bless you today and always!

Support The Word For WORD Bible Comic – The Gospel Of Mark (Book 4) – Graphic Novel Kickstarter Campaign

A few years ago, fellow Bible Gateway Blogger Grid member (#bgbg2) Simon, creator of The Word for Word Bible Comic, launched his first Kickstarter campaign. Fast forward to today, thanks to the help of many AWESOME SUPPORTERS (like you!), Simon has been able to successfully complete two campaigns and produce three Bible comics! It has been an honor to watch each of his goals come to life as a graphic novel of the Bible.

Click a book name below to learn about its successful campaign journey:

The Book of Joshua

The Book of Judges & The Book of Ruth

Wow! Certainly, God has Word for Word Bible Comic on an exciting journey! I pray you’ll keep reading to learn how you can be part of their newest endeavor.

Attention: Announcement Alert!

On the heels of two great campaigns, I am happy to announce that Simon is back at it again – hard at work on his fourth graphic novel – the Gospel of Mark (see cover below)!

Seriously, how COOL do those graphics look?! May God continue to bless the work of Simon’s hands!

Check out this sneak peek of the Gospel of Mark – take a look below!

What will Jesus look like?

What will Jesus be like in the Comic?

How will the four Gospels be harmonised?

Getting excited yet? I know, me too!

As always, the Word for Word Bible Comic is historically accurate, untamed, and uncut!

Dynamic range of detail – places, period technology, culture, and maps.

Drawn from real locations specific to period and region.

Untamed – it doesn’t shy away from what the Bible addresses (note: this is aimed at adults and young people 15+, violence is depicted, lustful scenes are only implied visually. For further concerns, please see the Gospel of Mark Kickstarter campaign for full details.)

Completely unabridged – nothing is edited out or added in, except sounds.

So, here is where we come in. The Gospel of Mark Kickstarter began on March 3 and ends April 9th but Simon needs our help to realize his goal and have a successful campaign culminating with the completion of book 4 – The Gospel of Mark!

Will you prayerfully consider backing Word for Word Bible Comic?

Embrace Yourself Exactly The Way God Made You

Watch this video!

Thank God I’m not the only one with the notion of loving myself exactly the way God made me…even if it goes against ‘polite society’ or ‘the norm’. I never want to think I am disgusting or repulsive because the Lord God says I am fearfully and wonderfully made – dark circles, bags, everywhere hair, wrinkles, stretch-marks and all. I want to embrace every bit of it – the good, the bad, and the so-called ugly – without shame or guilt for not living up to what society or others WANT to see. When I get to Heaven, God isn’t going to ask me why I didn’t shave my legs or put on makeup for Him. For that reason (and many more in Christ), I can face my REAL self and embrace her – as inglorious as she seems on the surface. I can even praise Him for making me just the way I am and I think He is doing a good work in this!

Sweet Soul, whatever state you find yourself in or however you feel about yourself right this minute, I pray that God would bless your precious life! That He would enable and empower you to embrace the REAL you – no matter what it looks or feels like right now! I pray that you would know deep within your heart that He created you with great care and profoundly loves every bit of you. May He remove whatever hinders your perception from seeing the REAL you that He created. May He give sight to the blind in this matter, that we may all see the beauty of His creation in ourselves. O God, we thank and praise you for this great work of your hands!

“I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.” – Psalm 139:14

May your SOUL know today!

Press On – 2017 And Philippians 3

Move forward, forget what lies behind, press on, reach the goal, move forward, forget what lies behind, press on, reach the goal. Happy New Year!

Philippians 3:12-14 “Not that I have already obtained it [this goal of being Christlike] or have already been made perfect, but I actively press on so that I may take hold of that [perfection] for which Christ Jesus took hold of me and made me His own. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider that I have made it my own yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the [heavenly] prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

God bless you!

What Would Happen If Christians Treated The Great Commission Like a World Series Celebration?

Cubs World Series celebration ranks as 7th largest gathering in human history – Story | WFLD

According to the article, approximately 5 million people came out to celebrate the Cubs World Series win, ranking the gathering as the 7th largest in human history. Number one being a 2013 pilgrimage in India totalling 30 million. I never thought about the size of crowd a secular event, milestone, or celebration is capable of producing, but now that I’m thinking, I can’t stop. What would happen if we could get Christians to gather like this? What if we treated the Great Commission like a World Series celebration?

The Chicago Cubs winning the World Series after 108 years is certainly cause to celebrate, but compared to all the reasons 2.2 billion Christians have to come together and celebrate, it’s not even a contest. A Christian’s reason to take to the streets in celebration is infinitely more significant, and worthy of our attention, but it seems to be underappreciated. Our gatherings haven’t even made the top 10 (yet, anyway).

We need to realize and rejoice! Jesus doesn’t just win the World Series, He takes the sha-bang! He reigns over all the earth – over every thing, every day! What if we set our mind to that affect?

Let’s try it, set your mind right now. Reaffirm to yourself, set your mind that every day is World Series day for Jesus. And even better, He doesn’t just win the World Series, He takes the sha-bang! He reigns over all the earth – over every thing, every day! That is cause to take to the streets rejoicing! Let the world see, hear, and feel the power of our Great God!

If Christians set their minds and gathered like this {2.2 billion > 5 mil} it’d be the largest gathering ever (hands down!) & we could change the world. Joined together in one voice and goal, we would touch the ends of the earth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and fulfill the Great Commission.

Sing this with me: 🎤🎵🎶 “Go, Christian, Go. Go, Christian, Go. Hey, hey, Christian, whadda ya say? Jesus Christ already won today!” 🎤🎵🎶

Now, GO!

Praising God with you,
